Mark began his career as a printing machinist at the age of 15 completing a machinists apprenticeship four years later. After 5 years in the printing industry, he decided to take extended leave and travel overseas. Upon his return he worked in a number of hands on roles including landscape gardening, crane driving and eventually truck driving.

In the late 80’s Mark returned to high school, studying at night to complete his VCE. This then lead onto a BSc, completed in 2000, partial completion of an under graduate degree in Logistics and Supply Chain. Mark is currently working on a Masters in Supply Chain by research investigating the role of commercial routing and scheduling in industry.

As he returned to study, his career began to accelerate. Mark worked his way up from truck driver through to operations supervisor. After a number of subsequent management roles Mark went on to manage the logistics for Hamilton Island Enterprises responsible for a vast array of logistics functions ranging from barge operations through to managing the million procurement budget.

After completing his time at Hamilton Island he moved into a senior role with Brambles. Mark has experienced the full range of responsibilities within

the supply chain sector including asset management and lifecycle analysis, strategic procurement, supply chain re-engineering and academic lecturing. He is passionate about the sector and is currently the President of the Logistics Association of Australia and active on a number of volunteer boards and committees. One of his key interests is the role of young people in the sector.

Mark has a practical hands on approach to logistics tempered by detailed academic qualifications. Most recently, Mark has been involved in a number of supply chain related tasks for major Australian and International Blue Chip organisations. His approach to the business support role is one that offers insight and innovation without the fanfare.
